What is M&S Central?

Created by Remy in 2024, this site was born from the idea of revamping an older version after the Nintendo Network shutdown. My goal was to build a faster, more modern platform where you can easily check updated rankings for every event across all Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games titles. The site is your hub for Community Updates, Latest Records, Events, and much more!

Behind the scenes, a dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure everything is up to date. Without their support, this project wouldn’t be possible. Meet the key contributors:

  • Remy – Site creater, owner and developer.
  • Ricci – Leaderboard manager and updater. Ricci has been instrumental in finalizing the top 10s and keeping them updated, while also monitoring for possible cheaters, duplicate accounts, and lost records. He also maintains the M&S World Records document.
  • Pretendo – Jon and Shutterbug from Pretendo have helped a lot to access the leaderboard data of Rio 3DS and Sochi before the Nintendo Network Shutdown. Without their help we would never be able to know the best scores and players of these games.

  • Carterferris07 – Has been essential in growing and maintaining a stable community.
  • Hayden – Helped a lot to make the London Wii top 10s complete and as accurate as possible.
  • Nameless ツ – Helped a lot to make the Tokyo top 10s complete and as accurate as possible.

  • Spielpro – Manages and keeps the Discord server running smoothly.
  • Vncz – Helped with preserving a lot of data before the Nintendo Network Shutdown.

  • Silverboxer – Preserved WFC data for Beijing DS.

My Story

I’ve always wanted to create a place where passionate players of this small community can come together and check-out everything related to this amazing series of games. Leaderboards in the games themself are gone now (except for Tokyo). They were never perfect: Most of the leaderboards had duplicated records, leaderboard caps, hackers and some games even only showing the top 3 or only first place. Most of the leaderboards also had issues like not showing the character(s) which were used in the event. Although Tokyo has a working leaderboards, it has still leaderboard caps, duplicated accounts and you need to pay for it. And in the future this leaderboard will vanish just like the others. This site will display those great achievements from those amazing players forever.

I’ve always looked up to the Mario Kart community and how they preserved their records and stuff. The Mario & Sonic community is smaller but it has an absolutely insane amount of dedicated players who grind to the absolute maximum of the events. The community was pretty silence from in the past decade but I’ve seen a big growth since 2022. The WFC shutdown in 2014 made us lose a lot of great records and achievements. We didn’t want that to happen again and Pretendo helped us to save all the data just on time. This site is made by a fan, for the fans, and in zero ways money is made from this project. And there never will. You can always check all rankings, guides, stats, events and the community for free!

I’ve put in at least 500 hours into this project over the past 1,5 years. Which is an insane amount of brainstorming, building, coding, solving errors, collecting data, making excel formulas, converting data, research for records, making sheets/guides and a lot more. This was by far the hardest and longest project I’ve ever done and I’m pretty happy about it. I’ll continue with maintaining this site and updating those records for as long as possible. This is the community I live in and I want to stay in forever. Thanks for visiting this site and I’ll see you around.
