Where did we find the records?
The scores are gathered from different resources to make these leaderboards as accurate as possible:

IGL – The in-game leaderboards is the most common place to upload your records and check the leaderboards since its build in the game. Curently the only working in-game leaderboard is in Tokyo 2020.
Wiimmfi – Wiimmfi is the replacing online service for Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS since the WFC shutdown in 2014.
Social Media – Such as Youtube, X (Twitter) and Twitch.
Speedrunning and Highscoring websites – Such as Speedrun.com, Cyberscore, Video-Games-Records, Sonic Central and Wii-Records.com.
Forums – Such as GameFAQs and Discord.

When will a leaderboard update?
Leaderboards will update whenever a leaderboard mod adds or updates a score or time. Updates by leaderboard mods will be live within a second.

How does it work?
A Leaderboard is always shown in this format:

The legenda of symbols
Lastly there’s a legenda for symbols that are used:
– When a flag shows [?] or a character shows , this means that the specific variable is unknown.
– When you see a * behind the text, it means that a specific score is under investigation.
– The [?] Symbol is used to direct you to a page/site when more information needs to be provided.
